
Created in 1957, in Calonne-Ricouart,
North of France, by Charles Carlier, Engineer of "Arts et Métiers",
Chairmain, had right from the begining the vocation of processing plastics,
mainly glass fiber reinforced polyester (FRP).
Now CITP belongs to Carlier-CITP's group which
carries out a sales turnover of 30 million
euros in progression, for a manpower of
250 people. The investments amounting to 5% of the sales turnover represent
a significant share which shows the will of performance and innovation.
1957, Charles Carlier, who had been specialising
in plastics and composits ever since he finished his studies, founded his company
producting parts from FRP. He delivered the first tank made of FRP, with a capacity
of 3000 liters for transporting liquid fertiliser.
1960, The young Carlier Plastiques company installed
the first filament winding machine to produce tanks up to 2 m in diameter.
1970, A second filament winding machine with a diameter
of 4,5 m was installed.
1975, A thermoplastics boiler making workshop was
created to develop a new product line made of dual-laminate thermoplastic FRP.
The first dual-laminate thermoplastic FRP tank was made.
1976, A second boiler making workshop was opened
in the Perigord, devoted to agro-food applications.
1978, Carlier Plastiques adopted a policy of development
into the French regions and purchase a workshop making dual-laminate thermoplastic
FRP pipes at Fos-sur-Mer.
1982 / 1991, A major contract was obtained with a
very well known customer, Electricité de France. It was for 25 self supporting
chimneys for nuclear power plants, each one 3 m in diameter and 55 m high, and
weighting about 20 tons.
1989, After 32 years of activity, Carlier Plastiques
produced its 12000th tanks.
1990, The acquisition of CITP, a thermoplastics and
FRP company specialising in bolier making components and pipes, provided access
to the Rhône-Alpes market and made Carlier Plastiques into a group.
1991, A 6 m diameter filament winding machine was
installed at the Rhône-Alpes factory, doubling its production capacity.
1996, The subsidiary company were absorbed into Carlier
Plastiques to consolidate the group's identity via a single brand.
1997, 40th anniversary of the company and celebration
of the production of the 16000th tank.
1998, The Carlier Plastiques group obtained a contract
for 40 4 m diameter gas venting towers for libya, so demonstrating its intention
to go international.
1999, The Carlier Plastiques group, determined to
confirm its leadership, increased its production capacity at Calonne-Ricouart
with a new boiler making shop, especially for large diameter components and
equiped with an 8 m diameter filamant winding machine.
2000, Acquisition of the workshop of Béthune.
2001, Creation of the subsidiary CITP dedicated to
the trades of boiler making and piping.
1st scrubber in 6,5 diameter, 31 m high. The longer European FRP scrubber for
the UIOM of Malmö thanks to the company LAB.
2002, Creation of the agency of Mont, near Pau.
2003, 18 diameter self-supporting cover for the company
UMICORE.
2004, Progressive closing of the factory of Bugue
and partial transfer of the manpower to Mont.
1st tank 7 m in diameter for SIDMAR.
2005, Transfer of the Fos agency to a colleague.
Market of 8 columns for zinc (définage) 10 m high and 3,5 m in diameter,
4b of service pressure for Goro-Nickel project in New Caledonia thanks to the
company Applexion.
